Match Report

The Colts find themselves in the hat for the next round of the League Cup after a below par performance . It was apparent from the kick off that the opposition were playing a five man defence ,the Colts had trouble breaking it down and fell behind to the inevitable breakaway goal . The Colts poured forward but despite creating lots of chances they were too wasteful with the bulk of the shots  fired directly at the keeper . Jake put  the Colts level at just before half time and  they found themselves subject to the hairdryer treatment from the coaching staff . The second half was a carbon copy of the first with numerous chances squandered and the Colts could consider themselves slightly fortunate when the oppositions  second shot of the match rattled the crossbar . This was perhaps the wake up call the Colts needed as all of a sudden they started to play the football we know they are capable of . A training ground routine brought the second goal , a long throw from Harry was met with a deftly flicked header from Jake into the roof of the net . The third goal quickly followed when a ball fell to Stephen on the edge of the box who  without hesitation  hit a thunderbolt volley that nearly broke the net . By now the Colts had found their rhythm and were  camped in their opponents half . The scoring was rounded off when Rob volleyed home for number four . In the end a comfortable victory but too many chances were wasted which could prove costly in future matches . It was great to see Jimmy make his long awaited debut and he confirmed what we all know that we have got ourselves  an excellent , composed ball playing defender . Man Of The Match was a little bit tricky this week as I felt a number of players were below par but there were still some outstanding candidates , Jake who has again added to his goal tally , Ali for some towering headers in the midfield but Harry D was outstanding today , he seemed to realise that by taking his time , having a look up and passing the ball we could acheive a result ! Well Done Harry !
