Match Report
Best is still to come!
The Rovers continued their impressive start to the season with their third win in a row against a strong Hythe Hornets team. We controlled the match with an excellent team display and but for the heroics of their keeper would have notched up an impressive tally. Jack O opened the scoring in the first half when sharply firing home the rebound after the keeper had tipped a great free kick from Ollie on to the bar. Max added a calmly taken second when put through for a one on one with the keeper by coolly slotting home having drawn the keep off his line. Well done boys, great finishing.
All of the team played really well and we restricted Hythe to very few goalscoring opportunities with great team work. Brads was calm and alert in goal, James, Nick and Harry didn't give them a sniff of a chance with some great heading and tackling, Mateo continued his development at 9v9 with some great through balls, Ish was magnificent in sweeping up in midfield, Ben headed the ball and took his throws spot on, Ollie worked his socks off with some great dead balls and working back, Jack G was unlucky not to have converted a half chance, Jack O took his goal well and worked hard running the channels and Max posed a constant threat with some direct running.
MOTM - Ollie Goodin. After being subbed close to the end of the game he tearfully explained his decision to sit in the hedge and sulk by saying "I've never had a game like that before". No Ollie, you haven't, so lets hope this drives you on to do it every week.
