Match Report
Great effort
The boys gave a good account of themselves but just came up short against the side in our division with the meanest defence, having conceded only 5 goals all season. Two lapses of concentration proved our downfall. The first goal was so predictable. Despite my warnings that they needed to focus the boys lacked this in the early stages and with Jack M fiddling with his pants and James (how good could he be if he concentrated?!!)watching the game on the adjoining pitch we failed to deal with the danger and allowed Kingswood to sweep the ball accross the pitch to the far post where they finished with a smart strike past Max. The second caught us in the closing stages when we were pushing forward, but we had enough bodies back and should have prevented the chance, despite the impressive work from their No. 10, a very good player. We should learn from every match and I will be pointing out to the boys that the best teams start right from the first whistle - if you don't concentrate from the off you will be punished.
In between the goals we coped very well and produced some great passing moves, most notably when Ben failed to connect properly following a lovely flowing move. I have no complaints though, the boys tried very hard and we have to take into account that we were without two defenders, Mateo was off colour with a cold, Brads, Ollie and Kian were carrying injuries and we needed to use two of our attacking players in goal. If only we could find a regular keeper! Add to this the heavy pitch and I think it was a great effort.
MOTM - Jack O, He didn't really want to go in goal but bravely donned the gloves and showed some smart work.
