Match Report
What lovely children!
The Rovers got the season off to a great start with a hard fought but comfortable victory over Badshot Lea. This was an excellent team peformance with hard work and loads of effort being the hallmarks of the Rovers' success. Max got his first goal as permanent captain when he bundled us into the lead early in the first hal from a corner. We had most of the game from then on, with few clear cut chances in the first half.
The second half was more open, with Mateo superbly slotting the ball home from the edge of the area and Jack G adding a third with a cross cum shot that sailed high over the keeper into the top corner from wide on the left. The defending was superb from Nick and James and Lorcan commanded his area like a veteran. Badshot Lea got a consolation in the closing minutes when the boys had switched their attention to the post game biscuit tin! The Goodin boys had goals disallowed that would have been given on another day and Brads, Shaun and Jack G all were unlucky not to have added to our tally. Remember boys - be more ruthless in front of goal.
An excellent first game and it was all done with maximum effort and an exceptional attitude to work hard and enjoy the game. The team were a credit to all of us.
MOTM - Nick Young. Some great displays from Mateo and James, but Nick shaded it for his resolute defending and unfailing effort.
