Match Report
Outstanding Fillies put Wimbledon to the sword
An outstanding all round Fillies display saw the girls run up a record win against a Wimbledon team that kept going right to the end.
The girls were at the opposition from the off, and Emilie got her customary goal when she charged down a goal kick and left the goalie with no chance after a cool finish.
Emilie then turned provider when she found Sophie Waller, who managed to finish with what is now known as the "Sophie Scoop", a high lob that completely fooled the goalie. 2-0 to the Fillies and we were under way.
Emilie then completed an exceptionally quick hat trick when she scored two goals of a very similar fashion, both involving interceptions and a strong run in on goal and finish. That was a hat trick from Emilie in about 5 minutes - almost as quick as Robbie Fowler's against Arsenal in 1996!
Sophie Waller then got her second when she followed up well from a goalkick. Hannah then got in on the act with a great finish into the top of the net to make it 6, and Anya finished the scoring for the first half when she charged down a clearance from the goalie to blast the ball home.
7-0 to the Fillies at half time, givbing Paul and Terry the chance to play some people in some unfamiliar positions. Tia came on and played in a number of positions, always making a nuisance of herself against the opposition and setting up chances for her team mates.
The second half started as the first half finished, with a good corner from Caitlin falling to Hannah who got her second of the match with a well taken goal. Not to be left out of the goalscoriong action Darcy then sold the keepr a lovely dummy to dribble the ball round and pass the ball into an empty net.
Double figures then arrived with Darcy charging down a clearance and squaring the ball to Caitlin who made no mistake from a few yards out. Caitlin then quickly doubled her own tally when a corner ball, that was heading towards the goal, took a deflection off the Wimbledon defender.
Not to be outsdone Darcy then doubled her personal tally with a strong shot to make it a dozen, and the scoring was wrapped up when from a freekick from Caitlin the ball rebounded off the unfortunate Wimbledon defender into the goal.
This was a thoroughly convincing display by the girls - the finishing was clinincal and they never took their foot off the gas in the search for more goals. Great game
Girl of the match went to Tia - she played in a number of positions, never gave up and put in a really strong shift everywhere she was asked to play. Well done Tia - a great game
