Match Report
Midfield Dynamos Inspire Fillies !
The Fillies were off on their travels to Mitcham after the West Ashtead pitch was deemed unplayable and Mitcham kindly agreed to host the match . The managment duo made some slight changes to the line up with Laura moving up front and Mae dropping back to the left of the midfield trio .
It was stressed to the team in the pre match team talk the importance of supporting the player on the ball and for the midfield to cover their defence . From the kick off the Fillies piled on the pressure and Laura revelling in her new position opened the scoring followed by a quick second from Caitlin and then Anya fired in a third . The three goal cushion allowed changes to be made and Hannah and Tia took their places on the pitch . Tia was put in by Sophie and just failed to bury the chance . Hannah didnt put a foot wrong in defence and Caitlin and Mae added to the score before half time .
The Fillies came out for the second half with Rosanna up front with Tia. Then Emilie with two goals and Sophie with one added to the total . The manager then sent Caitlin on with the parting words " go get your hat - trick " which she duly did . The defence which had been superbly marshalled by captain Molly and the safe hands of the cool Sop with a spot of ball juggling on her goal line thrown in for good measure . Just as it seemed the Fillies would keep their third consectutive clean sheet they failed to react to a loose ball in the box which was slammed home to give the hosts a deserved consolation goal .
A 9- 1 victory was acheived in fine style in a physical but fair match . Girl of the match was always going to be tricky , there were several candidates but in the end we narrowed it down to two Mae and Sophie W both girls had been told to cover their full backs as we knew we were up against some tricky and skilful forwards but it was also emphasised that if they pushed on they could score goals . Both girls carried out the instructions to the letter , lots of tigerish tackling and a goal a piece Sophie just shaded it by including a couple of fine assists !
