Under 12's B

This match was another close and exciting game for the team. A Cup game against the team we knocked out last year.

Ashtead started well and had several chances before Alex put away the first goal.  Overall we looked the stronger team, at times Chessington came back and threatened with their talented forward striker, but defense held for the first half with good defensive contributions from George R, Sebastian and Connor

George Duxberry was playing a galant role in mid field, looking exhausted by match end but kept going.  On the left wing, Luis Coyle was making his mark - mixing some good runs forward, passing game with defensive support. Up front Alex looked threatening, trying to turn his man but the ball not quiet following him. Notably Ashtead's attack was more frequent up the right wing with Luke or Alex moving forward, and several chances were created.

If there was an area for improvement to highlight Ashtead, it would be to close down the gap between defense and mid field,  boxing and triangulating better around the ball to give passing options, keep possession and to pick up the ball after a tackle.

Chessington's equalising goal came after a save from Crampo which very unluckily re-bounded off the post, and landed right in front of the goal for an easy tap in.  The second was more deserving, their center forward dribbling past two defenders and finishing well, but also lucky as up to this time the defense had contained him and tackels were strong.  Chessington had another hard high shot over the keeper which was excellently saved and Crampo earned votes for man of the match.

The final man of the match decision went to Luis Coyle, strong all round game, lots of energy and good defensive and attacking midfield contribution.The 'winner takes it all 'as they say so congratulations Luis!
